Better Together: Meet the Board of Directors, 2.0!

We think it’s pretty important that you know who helps drive decision-making behind the scenes at the Fayette Community Foundation. In addition to our dedicated staff, we have a wonderful Board of Directors who volunteer their time to help make Fayette County a wonderful place to put down roots and grow.
Last summer, we introduced you to a few of the members of our Board. Today, let’s meet a few more!
Elizabeth Hauger: “I joined the Board of Directors earlier this year. I wanted to serve because Fayette County has so much potential, and I want to be part of helping it grow. This community has shaped me, supported me, and given so much to my family, and I feel called to give back. Serving is my way of honoring that. I’m passionate about the Foundation because of my grandfather, Bill Wilson, who dedicated so much time and effort to the Foundation and its projects. His commitment and my grandmother, Nancy’s, influence are a big part of why I feel so connected to this work. They taught me the value of service, community, and investing in others. I hope to see Fayette County embrace a growth mindset and reach its full potential. We have so many strengths. Our location between Indianapolis and Cincinnati, our reasonable cost of living, and our strong sense of community. I want to see us build on those assets and create a future full of opportunity, connection, and pride. I want to contribute to a community where people feel supported, connected, and proud of where they live. Helping Fayette County grow stronger and more vibrant is something that energizes me.”
Andrew Bernzott: “I choose to serve on the board to give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family. Both of our businesses have been successful because of the support of the community. I was born and raised here and have always thought so much of this town and the people in it. I hope to make an impact serving on the FCF Board! Seeing all the great things the people and businesses in town are doing that you don’t see everyday is so eye opening. It motivates me to stay active in FCF to help these people that are helping so many others or doing the right thing. My hopes for Fayette County are that we can build our economy back, decrease the amount of negative statistics we hold, bring people back, and get people back to enjoying this wonderful town we live in. It’s such a great place that has gotten a bad rap with the hard times we’ve been through.”
Elizabeth and Andrew’s stories reflect a common thread that runs throughout the Fayette Community Foundation’s Board of Directors: a deep love for Fayette County and a shared belief in its future. While every board member brings a unique perspective, professional experience, and personal story to the table, they are united by a commitment to thoughtful stewardship, community leadership, and creating opportunities that will benefit generations to come.
As volunteers, our board members generously invest their time, talents, and expertise to help guide the Foundation’s work. Their leadership helps ensure that charitable gifts are managed responsibly, community needs are thoughtfully considered, and strategic investments continue to strengthen Fayette County for years to come. We are grateful for each member’s willingness to serve and for the vision they bring as we continue building an even brighter future together.
