Fayette Community Foundation’s Flood Relief Fund given $100,000 by Reid Health
Working in conjunction with the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), the Fayette Community Foundation has established the Fayette County Flood Relief Fund to help those most affected by last week’s natural disaster.
“Our hearts go out to our community and to all the residents, families, and businesses affected by the devastating flooding in Fayette County,” said Abigail Roszell, Executive Director of the Fayette Community Foundation.
“During times like these, we’re reminded of the strength of our community and the generosity of neighbors who want to help neighbors.”
The fund today received a $100,000 donation from Reid Health to support recovery efforts.
Reid Health Vice President Jason Troutwine said Reid team members are working to identify where they can have the most impact on communities throughout the health system’s service area.
“We want to make sure we’re where we’re needed most and are helping in the best way we can to meet each community’s specific needs,” Troutwine said. “So far, that has meant performing water rescues, helping identify flooded roadways, and donating items such as food, water, masks, gloves, and tetanus vaccines.
“There are hard days ahead for many people. Recovery will take time, but we’re here to offer our support for as long as it’s necessary.”
“We’ve been blown away by the generosity our community has shown in response to the Fayette County Flood Relief Fund, and Reid Health’s incredible $100,000 gift takes those efforts to an entirely new level,” Roszell said. “This gift significantly increases the support we’ll be able to provide as our community recovers from this devastating flooding.
“Reid has made similar gifts to our neighboring communities of Wayne and Franklin counties, and we’re incredibly grateful to them for stepping forward in such a meaningful way and for demonstrating their commitment when it’s needed most.”
All donations given to the Flood Relief Fund will be distributed through the Fayette County EMA.
“We’ll work with the Fayette County EMA to identify where that money should go,” Roszell said. “We want to make sure whatever we do has the biggest impact in the long run while also helping meet immediate needs.”
