History
Founded in 1986, the Fayette County Foundation, Inc. (dba Fayette Community Foundation) serves as the community’s trusted resource for charitable giving and philanthropic impact.
The Foundation was established by the Greater Connersville Progressive Committee, led by local community leaders Robert E. Price, Harold Reihman, and Jerry Wilson. These visionaries recognized the need for a community foundation to seed and support important local initiatives. From its modest beginnings with an initial fund of $20,000, the Fayette Community Foundation has grown to steward endowments exceeding $15 million—thanks to the generosity of donors who share a commitment to strengthening Fayette County.
Over the years, the Foundation has provided personalized services to individuals, families, and businesses, helping them establish more than 180 permanent endowments through gifts and bequests. These funds, which vary in size from $5,000 to millions of dollars, support a wide range of community needs and reflect the diverse philanthropic passions of our donors.
The Board of Directors governs the Fayette County Foundation, setting policy, overseeing endowment development, and ensuring that the Foundation’s operations align with its mission. The Foundation is committed to serving all of Fayette County by assisting donors and meeting the evolving needs of our community.
