Brooklyn Baker receives the Ken Rowe Memorial Scholarship
Brooklyn Baker received the Ken Rowe Memorial Scholarship an endowment of the Fayette County Foundation. This scholarship requires applicants be pursuing a degree in elementary education.
Ken Rowe Memorial Scholarship was established in 2000 to create a legacy of learning by awarding an annual scholarship to a CHS graduate pursuing a degree in elementary education. Dedicated. Passionate. Gifted. Perfectionist. All words that were used to describe Ken Rowe, a Fayette County school teacher. Ken grew tormer up on a farm in Ohio were he showed championship sheep as a 4-Her. His life was cut short by leukemia, which he battled courageously while continuing working in the profession he loved.
Brooklyn Baker is now attending Ball State University studying education. Brooklyn said, I knew I wanted to become a teacher in the 5th grade. I loved helping my classmates with math problems and answering questions about how to do something they did not understand. I still love doing this. This year the Foundation awarded 34 scholarships to 19 students with $100,337 in tuition funds awarded.
Congratulations, Brooklyn!
