May Nonprofit Meetup Notes

At the May nonprofit meetup local nonprofit members got together to speak about events. This months meetup was planned in order for leaders to take a look at the events they are currently doing or talk about event ideas. There was even conversation between a few organizations to partner up!

Things to think about in conversation:

  • What are the goals? What are you trying to achieve?
  • How do those goals align with your organization’s mission? Do they?
  • What is the intended audience of the event?
  • Do you review the cost of your event compared to what you make especially for fundraising events?
  • How do you promote your events?
  • How do you follow up on your event? If you don’t what do you think would be helpful?
  • What is an event you are particularly proud of being involved in?
  • What is an event you attended that you enjoyed (in our community or outside of it)? What about the event did you enjoy?

Harder questions:

  • What preparations or modifications have you offered to ensure that the events are accessible to people? If you haven’t, what can you do moving forward?
  • Does your organization hold an event you don’t think you should (or should you lay it down)?
  • Does your event truly align with your mission and goals or do you feel like it is something you just need to do?
